The Homeless Empowerment Project, Inc. (HEP), is one of Florida’s most successful providers of supportive housing for the homeless. The 32 unit single bedroom apartments are specifically for veterans including those disabled and in need of assistance from PTSD or substance abuse problems, as a result of returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. The project also includes a community center which offers comfortable amenities including exercise, video media center, game area, refreshment bar, offices, and laundry. Future planned development includes an additional two VA apartment buildings.
